Yesterday
evening, unknown persons blew up a women’s beauty salon in al-Sheikh Radwan
neighborhood. The salon sustained heavy damages. This incident is part of the security
chaos and misuse of weapons plaguing the occupied Palestinian Territory (oPt).
According
to an investigation conducted by the Palestinian Central for Human Rights
(PCHR), at approximately 23:00 on Tuesday, 08 March 2011, an explosive device
was detonated in front of a women’s beauty salon near al-Jeser area in
al-Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, northern Gaza city. The salon is owned by Khetam
Hassan al-Ghouti, 34, who lives in the same building where the salon is
located. Heavy material damages were caused to the salon and the windows of the
four-storey building were shattered. No casualties were reported.
The
Palestinian police arrived at the scene and opened an investigation into the
incident.
PCHR
strongly condemns this incident which is part of the security chaos and misuse
of weapons plaguing the oPt and calls upon the competent authorities to
prosecute perpetrators and bring them to justice.
