Yesterday in the evening, a citizen was shot dead with a live bullet in a family dispute in Qusin village, west of Nablus. This incident is part of misuse of firearms, security chaos, and assault on the rule of law in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt).
According to information given to the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR), at around 23:30 on Monday, 25 September 2023, a family dispute broke out between siblings from (Kh) family near the Old Mosque in central Qusin village. The dispute developed and firearms were used.
As a result, one of the siblings, (M. Kh.) (35) was shot with a live bullet in his chest and then taken to the Specialized Arab Hospital in Nablus, where he was pronounced dead only after 30 minutes.
Following the incident, Colonel Louay Irziqat, spokesperson of the Palestinian police, stated that the police initiated the investigation measures to identify the incident’s circumstances and causes.
PCHR calls upon the authorities to take serious and immediate action to cease the state of weapon proliferation and instantly apply the rule of law aiming at maintaining civil peace, especially in light of the recent murders in the oPt.
