This morning, 3 persons have been killed in Jabalia refugee camp, north of the Gaza Strip, after a gunman opened fire at a person and his son inside their house in Jabalia, killing them immediately. The suspect was found dead when the security services raided the house, where he fortified and exchanged fire with them.The Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR) is alarmed by the recent escalating killings and assault on the rule of law, calling on the competent authorities to take the necessary action to end the state of proliferation of weapons and instantly impose the rule of law in order to maintain civil peace.According to PCHR’s investigations, at approximately 11:30 on Thursday, 22 June 2023, a gunman opened fire at (A. ‘A. M.) (52) and his son (‘A) (21), while they were inside their house in Jabalia, north of the Gaza Strip, wounding them with several bullets in different parts of their bodies.  Both were taken to the Indonesian Hospital, north of the Gaza Strip, where they were pronounced dead.Afterwards, a large police force arrived, surrounded the house, and violently clashed with the killer in a house, where he fled to and fortified. The Ministry of the Interior announced in a statement that the security services stormed the house, where the killer fortified, and found him dead. The security services added that legal proceedings in this case are in due process.PCHR strongly condemns this crime, calls on the public prosecution to investigate it, and stresses that authorities shall take necessary action and measures to end the phenomenon of possession and use of weapons in the assault on the rule of law.  .
