A
bomb exploded this morning near a house belonging to Ghassan al-Jurof in Khan
Yunis. As a result, al-Jurof parents
were injured and the house was damaged. This incident is part of the state of security chaos and misuse of
weapons prevailing in the Occupied
Palestinian Territory.
According
to investigations conducted by the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR),
at approximately 02:45 on Thursday, 03 June 2010, a heavy explosion hit a
two-storey house belonging to Ghassan Burhom al-Jurof, 41, a former member of
the Prevntive Security Service, in ‘Abassan village, east of Khan Yunis. As a result, al-Jurof’s parents were injured. Burhom Salem al-Jurof, 74, was injured by shrapnel
to the right hand and leg and Halima Isma’il al-Jurof, 64, was injured by
shrapnel to the head. According to
al-Jurof, the police arrived at the scene and opened an investigation. Later, the police informed him that they
arrested two suspects.
The
house, in which 13 people live, was damaged due to the explosion, as were a
number of surrounding homes.
PCHR
strongly condemns this attack, which is part of the state of security chaos in
the OPT. PCHR further calls upon the
Attorney-General’s office to investigate the attack and bring the perpetrators
to justice.
