On Sunday evening, a Palestinian man sustained serious live-bullet wounds in his head after he was shot by unknown persons in al-‘Ain refugee camp, west of Nablus. This incident falls under misuse of weapons and attack on the rule of law in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt).
According to investigations conducted by the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR), at approximately 23:50 on Sunday, 29 March 2020, unknown gunmen opened fire at Ghassan Mohamed Hussain al-Baie’ah (27) while he was near al-Quds University’s former campus, on Tunis Street, west of Nablus. Ghassan was shot with a live bullet in his head and taken to the Istishari Arab Hospital in Nablus, where his condition was classified as critical.
The Palestinian security services arrived at the scene, closed it and opened an investigation into the incident to identify its circumstances.
PCHR condemns this incident, which constitutes an assault on the rule of law in the oPt. PCHR also calls upon the competent authorities to take strict measures to counter the misuse of weapons, which lately resulted in the killing and the injury of many citizens in incidents of social violence.
