Girl killed in Gaza due to Misuse of Weapons

Field Update

 

Yesterday, Yasmine Salah was killed by the
explosion of a hand grenade with which her brother was playing inside their
home in Gaza city. This incident represents the continuation of the state of
security chaos and misuse of weapons prevailing in the OPT.

 

According to investigations conducted by the
Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR), at 9:00 AM on Sunday, 23 January
2011, the body of Yasmine Ahmead Mohamed Salah, 16 years old, from al-Sheikh
Radwan neighborhood in Gaza city arrived at al-Shifa hospital in Gaza. She had
been injured by the shrapnel of the grenade explosion and died instantly.

 

PCHR expresses its concern regarding the
significant increase of security chaos and misuse of weapons in the OPT. It
also calls upon the responsible authorities of the government to take the
necessary procedures to ensure that such incidents to not reoccur.
