Field Update
Yesterday morning, a civilian died after being hit with a bullet to the head 10 days ago during a procession welcoming a prisoner released from the Israeli prisons in Jenin. This incident is part of the state of proliferation of weapons and the assault on the rule of law in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt).
Based on the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR’s) investigations, on Saturday, 20 January 2018, Al-Razi hospital in Jenin declared the death of Ahmed Farh Rashed Salah (22) from Kafran village, west of the abovementioned city. He succumbed to wounds in his head. On 10 January 2018, Salah was wounded by a bullet to the head from a hand-made weapon during a cars’ procession on Jenin- Haifa Street to celebrate the releasing of prisoner Amir Naser Abu al-Zeit. The wounded was then admitted to the mentioned hospital till the declaration of his death after being in a critical condition.
PCHR demands the public prosecution to investigate into the incident. PCHR also calls upon the competent authorities to take the necessary measures to protect civilians from dangers of weapons.
