Young Man Killed and another One Seriously Wounded by Gunmen in Rafah

Field Update

 

On Monday, 06 February 2012, a young man was killed another one was
seriously wounded by gunmen in Yibna refugee camp in the southern Gaza Strip
town of Rafah.  This attack is part of
the state of security chaos of proliferation of weapons prevailing in the
occupied Palestinian territory (oPt).

 

According to investigations conducted by the Palestinian Center for
Human Rights (PCHR), at approximately 22:15 on Monday, 06 February 2012,
unknown gunmen fired at Yousef Mahdi Abu ‘Obaid, 20, and ‘Othman Mohammed
Mansour, 38, when the two were near their houses near the office of al-Amal
Rehabilitation Society in Yibna refugee camp in the southern Gaza Strip town of
Rafah.  As a result of the attack, Abu
‘Obaid was instantly killed by several bullets throughout the body, and Mansour
was seriously wounded.  The police
arrived at the scene and opened an investigation.  They also arrested two suspects. 

 

PCHR strongly condemns this crime, which is part of the state of
security chaos and proliferation of weapons prevailing in the oPt.  PCHR calls upon the Attorney-General’s office
to seriously investigate it and bring the perpetrators before justice.
