Field Update
On Wednesday morning, 08 February 2012, two
siblings from Beit Fourik village, east of Nablus, were shot dead by a gunman
in Nablus. This attack is part of the
state of security chaos and proliferation of weapons prevailing in the occupied
Palestinian territory (oPt).
According to investigations conducted by the
Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR), at approximately 11:30 on
Wednesday, 08 February 2012, a man wearing civilian clothes fired from a close
range at two siblings who were in Dwaikat Office for Public Services in Faisal
Street in the east of Nablus. As a
result, one of the two persons, Munadel Hassan Manasra, 36, was instantly killed
by several bullets to the head and the body, and his brother, Mohammed, 21, was
seriously wounded by several bullets to the abdomen and the legs. The latter died two hours later while he was
undergoing a surgery at the hospital.
The Palestinian police opened an investigation
into the attack, and no further details concerning the attack have been
declared.
PCHR strongly condemns this crime, which is
part of the state of security chaos and proliferation of weapons prevailing in
the oPt. PCHR calls upon the Attorney
General’s office to search for the perpetrators and bring them before
justice.
