Field Update Today dawn, two Palestinians were killed during a family dispute in Qalqilya, north of the West Bank. The Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR) expresses its deep concern over the growing phenomena of violence in its various forms in the Palestinian society, which threatens the right to life, the rule of law and civil peace.According to PCHR’s investigations, at approximately 00:30 on Thursday, 01 July 2021, a double murder crime, where sharp tools were used, broke out in Qalqilya on grounds of a previous dispute that renewed today. As a result, Husam ‘Emad Abu ‘Asab (24) and Amjad Mohammed Abu Isninah (18) were killed. The investigations showed that Husam ‘Emad Abu ‘Asab (24) was killed during a personal dispute with a citizen from (S) family, as he was stabbed with a sharp tool in his body. Two hours later, Amjad Abu Isninah (18) was killed while he was sitting in front of his house in al-Wad Street area, as several persons attacked him and stabbed him several times all over his body. Abu Isninah was taken to hospital and was admitted to the operation room, but he was pronounced dead later due to his serious wounds.It should be noted that a dispute broke out between Abu Isninah and Abu ‘Asab families a month ago on grounds of disputes between the children of the two families.Lieutenant Colonel Louay Zreiqat, Spokesperson of the Palestinian police, emphasized that the Palestinian police opened an investigation into the circumstances and causes of the incident, which led to a double murder crime. He added that the public prosecution ordered to keep the two bodies and refer them to the Institute of Forensic Medicine to identify the cause of death. Zreiqat pointed out that the security services controlled the incident, the circumstances of which are still under investigation. PCHR expresses it deep concern over the increasing number of casualties resulting from social violence phenomenon and assault on the rule of law in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt), and calls upon the competent authorities to take strict measures to counter these manifestations.
