Yesterday evening, a Palestinian teenager was killed, and another was injured before his arrest after Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) directly opened fire at them near Sinjil village, east of Ramallah. This crime proves IOF’s loose shooting standards against the Palestinians and commission of murder crimes that amount to extrajudicial executions upon Israeli top-level military and political orders.
According to information collected by the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR) fieldworker, at approximately 20:45, on Saturday, 05 November 2022, IOF opened fire at 2 Palestinians on the main street between Ramallah and Nablus at ‘Oyoun Al-Haramiya intersection near Sinjil, east of Ramallah. As a result, Mosa’b Mohammad Mahmoud Zabin Nafal (18) was killed after being shot with 7 live bullets: one in his abdomen, 3 directly in his heart, one in his hand and the last in his thigh, and then delivered to Palestinian ambulance attendants. Also, Nishan Dumar Zabin Nafal (18) was wounded and taken by an Israeli ambulance to an unknown location, noting that they were residents of al-Mazra’ Al-Sharqiyya, east of Ramallah.
The Israeli Reshet Kan channel reported that an Israeli Military Force set an ambush for the stone-throwers near Al-‘Ayoun Al-Haramiyya intersection near Sinjil village, and opened fire at 2 young men, killing one and seriously injuring the other.
Although there was no Palestinian eyewitness to the incident, the Israeli media report on the ambush set for the stone-throwers and that IOF handed the corpse of the Palestinian teenager to the Palestinian ambulance attendants prove that what happened constitute a new crime of extrajudicial execution and assassination unjustifiably committed by IOF; a pattern that has continuously recurred over the past weeks.
PCHR reiterates its call upon the international community to take immediate action to end Israeli occupation’s crimes and double standards when it comes to international law and urges the ICC Prosecutor to act seriously with regard to the situation in Palestine. PCHR also demands the High Contracting Parties to the Fourth Geneva Convention fulfil their obligations as per Common Article 1 of the Convention, “undertake to respect and to ensure respect for the present Convention in all circumstances,” and their obligations under Article 146 of the same Convention, i.e., to hold accountable persons accused of committing grave breaches of the Convention.
