Israeli Occupation Forces Intensify Mass Killings and Targeted Assassinations in the Gaza Strip

The Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR) strongly condemns the escalating mass killings and assassinations perpetrated by the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) against Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip. Through these actions, Israel continues to systematically commit acts of genocide while seeking to impose new realities on the ground.

PCHR underscores that May 2026 recorded the highest casualty toll since the beginning of the year. According to the Ministry of Health in Gaza, 119 Palestinians were killed in IOF’s attacks, including 19 children and 10 women, while women, children, and older persons accounted for approximately 30% of the total number of casualties. This reflects the expanding scope of the targeting of civilians and the ongoing crime of genocide that Israel is perpetrating in the Gaza Strip.

In the latest of these crimes, at approximately 02:35 on Thursday, 4 June 2026, Israeli helicopters targeted an apartment near al-Qouqa Intersection in al-Shati’ Refugee Camp, west of Gaza City. As a result, ‘Abdullah ‘Ata Younis Abu Kaloub (40), his wife Rana Abu Kaloub (38), and ‘Asem Ayman Shlash Shubair (37) were killed, while several others sustained injuries. At around the same time, Israeli helicopters targeted another residential apartment belonging to the al-Ghoul family in the Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, injuring a number of its residents.

A few minutes later, an Israeli helicopter targeted a residential apartment in al-Salam Building (1) in the Tal al-Hawa neighborhood, west of Gaza City, killing Mohammed No’man Zaki Abu Maraq (42) and his wife, Reham Rushdi Isma’il al-Rayashi (37).

The helicopter also targeted another residential apartment in the Lubbad Building on al-Mukhabarat Street, west of Gaza City, killing Hasan Rabah Hasan Lubbad (43), his wife Manar Ibrahim Hasan Lubbad (40), their daughter Rahaf (18), and their son Tamim (6). Their daughter Hala (9) sustained injuries in the attack.

At approximately 15:40 on Wednesday, 3 June 2026, an Israeli drone targeted a yard in the Abu Karim family home near Mekki Roundabout in al-Maghazi Refugee Camp in the Central Gaza Strip. The attack killed two brothers, Mo’men Khalil Saqr Abu Karim (30) and Saqr Khalil Saqr Abu Karim (35), and injured several other civilians.

At approximately 00:50 on Tuesday, 2 June 2026, an Israeli drone targeted security personnel gathered near al-Zawaida Park in the Central Gaza Strip. As a result, Khamis Mahmoud Khamis Juwaifel (47) was killed while three others were injured.

At approximately 07:00 on the same day, IOF stationed east of Khan Younis opened fire at a group of civilians near al-‘Abbara Street, north of the city. As a result, ‘Ali Yasser ‘Alyan al-‘Adini (28) was killed, while his brother, Baha’ (20), was injured. The latter was subsequently detained for several hours before being thrown while still wounded on Salah al-Deen Road.

At approximately 10:50 on the same day, an Israeli surveillance drone targeted a civilian Skoda Fabia car travelling along Salah al-Deen Road, east of Deir al-Balah. The attack killed Ahmed Khaled Abu Mughaseeb (26), whose body was severely burned, and injured four other civilians.

At approximately 13:30 on Monday, 1 June 2026, an Israeli drone targeted a bicycle near the municipal garage in al-Bureij Refugee Camp in the Central Gaza Strip. The attack killed Yousef ‘Ayesh ‘Awad Ramadan (33) and seriously injured another civilian.

In light of the above, PCHR reiterates its call on the international community to take urgent action to halt the mass killings and assassinations perpetrated by the IOF against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip; to ensure accountability by bringing those responsible to justice before international judicial mechanisms; to take effective measures to guarantee protection for the civilian population; and to bring an end to the crime of genocide that has been ongoing for the past 32 months.
