Field update
Yesterday, a Palestinian was killed in Jabalia, north of Gaza City,
as gunmen opened fire at him. This incident is part of the state of
proliferation of weapons, security chaos and assaults on the rule of law in the
occupied Palestinian territory (oPt).
According to investigations conducted by the Palestinian Center for
Human Rights (PCHR), at approximately 22:40 on Sunday, 28 April 2015, a number
of gunmen intercepted Ahmed Mohammed Shehada (26) while walking in a bystreet
in al-Twam area, near military site (17), west of Jabalia. They opened fire at
him and shot him dead. A forensic medicine source at Shifa Hospital said to
PCHR fieldworker that Shehada sustained several bullet wounds to the chest and
belly, due to which he instantly died.
A source in Jabalia police stated that they arrested a number of
suspects from one family and had been questioning them on the killing of
Shehada.
PCHR condemns this incident, which is part of the state of
proliferation of weapons and assaults on the rule of law, and calls upon the
Attorney General’s office to seriously investigate the incident, and bring them
to justice.
