Member of the Izzedeen El-Qassam Brigades Killed during Training Exercise in Gaza City
On Friday, 24 February 2006, a member of the Izzedeen El-Qassam Brigades was killed and 2 others were injured during a training exercise in Gaza City.
PCHR’s initial investigation indicates that at approximately 08:00 on Friday, 24 February 2006, Abdel Mo’ti Abu Daf, a 28 year old from the Zaytoon neighbourhood of Gaza City, was killed and two of his colleagues were injured. The three are members of the Izzedeen El-Qassam Brigades, the armed wing of Hamas.
Abu Daf and other members of the Brigades had been conducting military training in one of the group’s training sites. A hand grenade exploded by mistake, causing the casualties.
Sources in Shifa Hospital informed PCHR that Abu Daf was killed by shrapnel injuries that had been sustained all over his body. He was killed instantly by the blast. The injuries of the other two hit by the blast were described as moderate and serious.
