Man and His Two Sons Injured by Explosion of Suspicious Object in Khan Yunis

Field Update

 

On Sunday noon, 18 December 2011, a man and his two sons were
injured when a suspicious object they mishandled exploded in Khuza’a village,
east of Khan Yunis.  The incident is part
of the state of security chaos and proliferation of weapons prevailing in the
occupied Palestinian territory. 

 

According to investigations conducted by the Palestinian Center for
Human Rights (PCHR) and the testimony of Asmaa’ Ahmed al-Najjar, at
approximately 11:45 on Sunday, 18 December 2011, he father, Mohammed Ahmed
al-Najjar, 52, was injured by shrapnel to the hands; his brother Samer, 26, was
injured by shrapnel to the hand; and her other brother Ahmed, 18, was injured
by shrapnel to the back and the ear, when a suspicious metal junk
exploded.  The father and the two sons
collect metal junks and sell them in the market.  The Palestinian police arrived at the scene
and opened an investigation. 

 

PCHR is concerned over this incident, which is part of the state of
security chaos and misuse of weapons prevailing in the oPt.  PCHR calls upon concerned authorities to take
necessary measures to ensure protection for civilians.
