In two separate incidents, unknown persons burn car of Governmental Employees Union Spokesperson in Gaza Strip and open fire at Palestinian People Party Office in Nablus

On
Tuesday morning, 17 March 2015, unknown persons set fire to a car belonging to
the Spokesperson of Governmental Employees Union in the Gaza Strip, but no
casualties were reported.  On the same
day, gunmen opened fire at the office of the Palestinian People Party in Nablus,
but no casualties were reported as well. 
These attacks are part of the phenomenon of the proliferation of weapons
and assault on the rule of law in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt).

 

According
to investigations conducted by the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR),
on Tuesday dawn, 17 March 2015, unknown persons set fire to a grey Hyundai
Verna governmental car belonging to Khalil Musbah Ramadan al-Zayyan (33),
Spokesperson of Governmental Employees Union in the Gaza Strip, from Jabalia refugee
camp in the northern Gaza Strip.  As a
result, the car that was parked in front of his house was completely burnt, but
no casualties were reported. PCHR learnt that the Police opened an
investigation into the incident.

 

At
approximately 09:00 on the same day, unknown persons opened fire at the office
of Palestinian People Party on the second floor of al-Masri building in the center
of Nablus.  As a result, three bullets
penetrated the eastern window and broke it. 
Naser Khalil Abu Jeish, member of the Palestinian People Party’s
Central Committee,
said that he was surprised by the shooting at
the Secretarial room from
the eastern side of the building when he entered the office.  He added that the bullets penetrated the
eastern window of the office and broke it, and none was in the office at that
moment.  Abu Jeish said that the police
arrived at the office and opened an investigation into the incident, and the
motives and grounds of the shooting have not been identified yet.

 

PCHR
condemns these attacks, which are part of the state of proliferation of weapons
and assault on the rule of law prevailing in the oPt and calls upon the concerned
authorities to search for the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
