Gunshot Kills Toddler in Hebron Village

 Kenda Aziz Abdul-Hafez Ed’eis(18 months) was killed with a gunshot in the head in Bani Na’im village, eastern Hebron.

According to PCHR’s investigation, at approximately 14:00 on Monday, 13 April 2020, baby girl Ed’eis was shot with a bullet in the head, the bullet had accidently been fired as her 12-year-old sister was playing with her father’s gun. The father is a member of the security services, and is in charge for safety and security at Bani Na’im village during the coronavirus pandemic. The child was transferred to the governmental hospital in Hebron where she was pronounced dead.

The Palestinian police opened an investigation into the incident to identify the circumstances of the incident, while the child’s body remained in the hospital for an autopsy.

The Palestinian Centre for Human Rights regrets the death of Ed’eis, and calls upon the concerned authorities to enforce more stringent measures in the face of the increasing manifestations of the use of weapons outside the rule of law, especially in recent times, which resulted in the death and injury of several Palestinians.
