Girl Shot Dead in Family Dispute in Jenin

Yesterday evening, a girl was shot dead in a family dispute, where firearms were used, in Siris village, southern Jenin. This incident is part of state of misuse of firearms, security chaos, and assault on the rule of law in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt).

According to investigations conducted by the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR), at approximately 19:00 on Monday, 20 March 2023, a dispute broke out in Siris village in southern Jenin, where an armed clash occurred between two families. The shooting resulted in the injury of Nagham Ramzi Anees Samara (18) with a live bullet in her waist while she was in her house in al-Jabal area in the village. Nagham was taken in a civilian car to Tubas Turkish Hospital, but she died shortly upon her arrival.

The Spokesperson of the Palestinian Police, Colonel Loay Izreiqat, said that Nagham was shot with a live bullet in her waist during a dispute and indicated that the Palestinian security services were deployed in the village.PCHR calls upon the Palestinian authorities to take serious and immediate action to cease the state of misuse of firearms and impose the rule of law in order to maintain civil peace, especially in light of the ongoing murder recently occurred in the oPt.
