Field Update
On Tuesday, a civilian was shot dead by an armed person on the ground of a family revenge in Khan Yunis. This is part of the state of the proliferation of weapons and assault on the rule of law in the occupied Palestinian territories (oPt).
According to investigations conducted by the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR), at approximately 20:05 on Tuesday, 14 August 2018, Nadi ‘Abdullah Yousef Abu Hadaied (26), was walking near Bani Suhailah Square on Salah al-Deen Street in Khan Yunis, meanwhile, an known person opened fire at him from a close range and then flee. It should be noted that Nadi sustained fractures to his left leg and walks on crutches due to his injury by Israeli forces. Nadi was hit with 8 bullets to the chest and the upper parts of his body. He was then taken to Naser Hospital in Khan Yunis, where his death was declared.
The Palestinian Police said to PCHR’s fieldworker that an investigation was opened into the incident and the victim’s corpse was transferred to Forensic Medicine Department. Many persons were arrested on the grounds of what happened.
PCHR condemns the killing of Nadi and calls upon the competent authorities to take the necessary measures to put an end to the proliferation of weapons and to maintain the safety and security of civilians.
