5 Civilians Injured in an Internal Explosion in Deir al-Balah

On Friday, 7 November, 2008, 5 civilians were injured when an explosive device exploded near a police station in Deir al-Balah. This incident is a continuation of the security chaos plaguing the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT).

According to investigation conducted by the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR), at about 8:20 on Friday, 7 November, 2008, 5 civilians were injured by shrapnel when an explosive device exploded. The device was placed near the easter wall of a police station in the center of Deir al-Balah, in middle Gaza. The injured civilians were taken to al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah for treatment. Medical sources described the wounds as light. The explosion also caused material damages to a shop a Subaru car parking in the vicinity.

PCHR notes with grave concern that casualties continue to be caused by the misuse of weapons and alls upon conducting serious investigations to bring the perpetrators to justice.
