On Friday, a civilian was shot dead during a family dispute in Hebron, south of the West Bank. This is part of the state of the proliferation of weapons and assault on the rule of law in the occupied Palestinian territories (oPt).
According to investigations conducted by the Palestinian Center for Human Right (PCHR), on Friday, 08 February 2019, a family dispute, in which firearms were used, erupted in Moraba’iet Sabb’ah area in the center of Hebron. As a result, A. F. N (19), was hit with a live bullet to the chest and then taken to al-Ahli Hospital in Hebron, where his death was declared at approximately 18:30 on the same day.
Palestinian Security officers arrived at the scene and then arrested a number of persons, who participated in the family dispute, including that the person accused of opening fire at the victim.
The Spokesperson of the Palestinian Police said that the person accused of opening fire was detained at the General Intelligence Service and he will bring before the Attorney General to complete the legal proceedings.
PCHR condemns the killing of (A. F. N ), and calls upon the competent authorities to take the necessary measures to put an end to the proliferation of weapons and to maintain the safety and security of civilians.
