Security Chaos
Armed Clan and Personal Clashes
Field Update
19 March 2007
Child Killed and 3 Injured, including 2 Women, in a Clan Clash in Rafah
PCHR’s preliminary investigation indicates that at approximately 12:30 on Sunday, 18 March 2007, armed clashes broke out in Tal El-Sultan Quarter in Rafah between members of Abu Mohsin clan, in a renewal of old intra-clan disputes. The clashes resulted in the killing of a small girl, Shatha Tal’at Abu Mohsin (8), by a bullet to the chest. Three other clan members were injured, including two sisters. The injured are:
– Intisar Zayed Abu Mohsin (47) was injured by two bullets to the thigh;
– Hanan Zayed Abu Mohsin (40) was injured by a bullet in the right thigh; and
– Odeh Kamal Abu Mohsin (40) was injured by a bullet in the right leg.
Medical sources at Mohammad Yousef El-Najjar Hospital stated that the small girl was brought dead to the hospital; and that the injured are under treatment.
PCHR is concerned over the continued falling of victims due to armed clan and personal clashes, which are a continuation of the security chaos plaguing the OPT. The Centre renews its call to the PNA, represented by the Attorney-General, to seriously investigate these crimes, and prosecute the perpetrators.
