Cafeteria Burnt in al-Maghazi and Bombs Detonated in Police Officer’s Car in Rafah

On Sunday morning, 21 March 2010, unknown persons sets fire
to a cafeteria in the park of the Municipality of al-Maghazi in the central Gaza
Strip. On Thursday, 18 March 2010, a
bomb was detonated under a car belonging to a Palestinian police officer in the
southern Gaza Strip town of Rafah. 

 

According to investigations conducted by the Palestinian
Center for Human Rights, at approximately 01:00 on Sunday, 21 March 2010, unknown
persons set fire to a cafeteria rented by Fat’hi ‘Abdul ‘Aziz Abu al-Rous in
the park of the Municipality of al-Maghazi at the entrance of al-Maghazi
refugee camp. Neighbours attempted to
extinguish fire and called civil defense fire fighters, who were able to
control the blaze. A kiosk and an
umbrella inside the park were burnt. The Palestinian police arrived at the area
and initiated an investigation. 

 

At approximately 23:20 on Thursday, 18 March 2010, unknown persons
detonated a bombs in a car belonging to Mohammed Ibrahim Abu Sha’ar, 40, a
police officer, while it was parked in front of his house in al-Salam
neighbourhood in the south of Rafah. The
car and a nearby shop of vegetables were heavily damaged. The police arrived at the area and initiated
an investigation.

 

PCHR strongly condemns these two attacks, which fall within
the prevalent state of security chaos in the Occupied Palestinian
Territories. PCHR further calls upon
the Attorney-General’s office to seriously investigate them and bring the
perpetrators to justice.
