Yesterday, armed
clashes took place in Jabalya refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip, due to
which a gunman was wounded. In a
separate incident, unknown persons detonated a bomb near the Sheikh Radwan
police station without injuries. These
incidents are part of the ongoing state of security chaos and misuse of weapons
prevalent in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT).

 

According to investigations
conducted by the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR), at approximately
13:30, on Monday, 15 March 2010, armed clashes broke out between gunmen around
Abu Qamar petrol station in Jabalya refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip,
where hand grenades were used. Gunfire
resulted in the injury of a gunman[1] by
shrapnel to different parts of his body. Police sources stated to PCHR that policemen immediately headed to the
incident’s scene and arrested number of the gunmen.

 

Yesterday, at
approximately 19:40, unknown persons detonated a bomb near the Sheikh Radwan
police station in the north of Gaza City, which resulted in partial damages in
the fence of the police station without injuries.

 

PCHR strongly condemns
these attacks, which are part of the state of security chaos and misuse of
weapons in the OPT. PCHR calls upon
General Attorney’s Office to seriously investigate these attacks and bring the
perpetrators to justice.
