A Palestinian Killed in the Explosion of a Suspicious Object and a Barbershop Blown up in the Gaza Strip
According to investigations conducted by PCHR:
At approximately 08:30 on Wednesday, 27 June 2007, the body of Mahmoud ‘Abdul Fattah Salama al-Sha’er, 24, from Khan Yunis, a member of ‘Izziddin al-Qassam Brigades (the military wing of Hamas) and the Executive Force, was brought to Nasser Hospital in Khan Yunis. He was hit by shrapnel throughout the body, when a suspicious object exploded in a post of the Executive Force in Gizan al-Najjar area in the south of Khan Yunis.
Earlier, at approximately 00:00 on Wednesday, unknown militants detonated a bomb near a barbershop belonging to Mohammed Ahmed al-Sumairi, 41, in al-Qarara village, northeast of Khan Yunis. The shop was heavily damaged. The motive for the attack is unclear.
PCHR is gravely concerned over increasing casualties resulting from the misuse of weapons. PCHR calls upon the Palestinian National Authority, represented by the Attorney-General to investigate such incidents and bring the perpetrators to justice.
