 Field Update

On Sunday morning, 12 February 2012, the office
of the Palestinian Civil Liaison of the Ministry of Civil Affairs, located near
Beit Hanoun (Erez) crossing in the northern Gaza Strip, was stormed and robbed
by unknown persons.  This attack is part
of the state of security chaos prevailing in the occupied Palestinian territory
(oPt).

According to investigations conducted by the
Palestinian Center of Human Rights (PCHR), on Sunday morning, 12 February 2012,
unknown persons stormed the office of the Palestinian Civil Liaison (55) of the
Ministry of Civil Affairs of the Ramallah government, which works on
coordinating the travel of Palestinians via Beit Hanoun (Erez) crossing.  This office is located to the north of a
checkpoint of the Palestinian police of the Gaza government, nearly 800 meters
from Beit Hanoun (Erez) crossing.  After
checking the office by the workers there, it was discovered that a TV set, a
satellite receiver and a mobile phone were stolen, contents of the office were
damaged and the files were tampered with.
The Palestinian police arrived at the scene and initiated an
investigation.

It is worth noting that this attack against the
office of the Palestinian Liaison Office has been the seventh of its kind since
2007.  The latest attack was carried out
on 27 January 2011.

PCHR condemns this attack, which is part of the
state of the security chaos prevailing in the oPt, and calls upon the
government in Gaza to take necessary measures to stop such attacks and bring
the perpetrators before justice
