Field Update
This morning, unknown persons detonated a
bomb near a coffee shop in the northern Gaza Strip town of Jabalya. This attack is part of the phenomenon of
violations of the rule of law and misuse of weapons prevailing in the occupied
Palestinian territory (oPt).
According to investigations conducted by
the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR), at approximately 00:30 on
Monday, 21 October 2013, an explosion occurred near Sabbara coffee shop, which
belongs to Eissa Mahmoud al-Hajj Ali, in Mas’oud Street in Jabalya. As a result, the coffee shop’s contents and
furniture were heavily damage, and the explosion made a hole in one of its
walls. Additionally, al-Hajj Ali’s
apartment, which is adjacent to the coffee shop, was damaged.
The Palestinian police arrived at the
area and opened an investigation.
According to police sources, the explosion resulted from a bomb
detonated by unknown persons near the eastern side of the coffee shop.
PCHR strongly condemns this attack, which
is part of the phenomenon of violations of the rule of law and misuse of
weapons prevailing in the oPt, and calls upon the Public Prosecution to
seriously investigate it and bring the perpetrators before justice.
