Car of Member of Fatah Revolutionary Council Fired at in Ramallah

Field Update

 

This morning, unknown gunmen fired at the
car of Dr. Sufian Abu Zaida, Member of the Revolutionary Council of Fatah
Movement, when it was parked in Sateh Marhaba neighborhood in Ramallah.
 The car was heavily damaged. This attack is part of the phenomenon of
misuse of weapons and violations of the rule of law prevailing in the occupied
Palestinian territory (oPt).
 

 

According to investigations conducted by
the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) and Dr. Abu Zaida’s testimony,
at approximately 06:45 on Tuesday, 19 November 2013, unknown gunmen opened fire
at Abu Zaida’s car when it was parked in front of Try Fitness Club opposite to
the offices of Wataniya Mobile.  The car
was heavily damaged as it was hit by at least 20 bullets.  No casualties were reported. 

 

The Palestinian police arrived at the
scene and opened an investigation.  Dr.
Abu Zaida stated that he would not submit a complaint for private reasons. 

 

PCHR condemns this attack which is part
of the phenomenon of misuse of weapons and violations of the rule of law
prevailing in the oPt, and calls upon the Attorney General’s office to
seriously investigate it and bring the perpetrators before justice.
