Raji Sourani, Director of the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights, participated in Rabat World Human Rights Pre-Forum in Rabat, Morocco, as a prelude to the 3rd World Human Rights Forum to be held in Buenos Aires, Argentina next March, to tackle the challenges in the areas of migration, climate change, and transitional justice and memory.

Sourani led and moderated the opening session, in which was Ms. Amina Bouayach, President of the National Human Rights Council in Morocco and the President of the Conference, Ms. Fernanda Gil Lozano, President of the Human Rights Council of Argentina and the President of the upcoming conference, and Mr. Nasser Bourita, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Morocco and Mr. Santiago Cafiero, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Argentina.

Sourani thanked Ms. Amina Bouayach and the National Council for Human Rights for the fascinating organization and mass attendance of this conference by the five continents, particularly from Africa, Latin America and Asia, to make the voice of those suffering and suppressed heard all over the world through clear messages.

In his speech, Sourani affirmed that selectivity and politicization of international law is a crime practiced willfully by Europe and America and he gave the Palestinian Nakba and displacement 75 years ago as an example in comparison with the immigrants from Ukraine, where America and Europe treated them with respect and humanity. This is also evident in how they deal with the African and Arab immigrants and boats carrying them without looking for the real causes of immigration and handling it from the roots.

Sourani also talked about how the Western world deal with the International Criminal Court (ICC) and the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in the situations of Palestine and Ukraine, as well as the Western’s position on settlements in the West Bank and Jerusalem as occupying settlements that lead to ethnic cleansing and displacement as well as establishing Apartheid.

Sourani praised the role of the human rights movement and defenders in Morocco, historically and presently, in tirelessly supporting the Palestinian human rights movement, the Palestinian cause and human rights issues.
