During the past few days, the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR) received 3 delegations from international partners and briefed them on the human rights situation, particularly in the Gaza Strip, and PCHR’s work in addition to discussing avenues for mutual cooperation.

Between 19-22 September, PCHR hosted a delegation from Al-Quds Association for Solidarity with the People in Arab Countries in Malaga, Spain. The delegation was comprised of Francisco Javier Ruiz, the President of Al-Quds; Eva Maria, the Vice President, and Al-Quds Association’s staff.  PCHR prepared an intensive program for them that included meeting with victims of the latest offensive on the Gaza Strip and hearing their affidavits and meeting with the heads of PCHR’s units to follow up on the implementation of joint projects. Also, they met with PCHR’s partner grassroots organization and listened to male and female beneficiaries of the implemented projects. PCHR also took them in a field visit to several areas in the Gaza Strip and concluded the delegation’s visit with a meeting with the directors of partner civil society organizations to update them on the human rights situation in the Gaza Strip after the recent offensive.

It is noteworthy that Al-Quds-Malaga Association is an independent association in Malaga, Spain established in 1999 to develop training programs and cooperation projects relevant to people of the Arab countries and to cover the void of solirdarity with the peoples of the Arab countries, particularly Palestine with the main objective being the denunciation of the international community’s complicity in wars. Among the first members of its Board of Trustees were Dr. Hedar Abdul Shafi, Dr. Iyad Al-Sarraj, and Mr. Raji Sourani and it was headed by Cristine Ruiz Cortina.

On the other hand, on Wednesday, 21 September, PCHR received a delegation from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) headed by Laurence Strübin, Programme Manager of Rule of Law&UNRWA. The meeting discussed the human rights situation in the occupied Palestinian territory, especially in the Gaza Strip, and explored avenues to promote the current partnership with PCHR.

On the same day as well, PCHR received a delegation from Save the Children that was comprised of Ann Perdersen, Regional Director of Save the Children, Linda Perez Bukasen, Area Director of Middle East and Eastern Europe, and their staff in Gaza to review the human rights situation in the occupied Palestinian territory. The meeting addressed PCHR’s work and followed up on the joint projects.
