Ref: 09/2011
On Wednesday morning, 09 March 2011, the
Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR) received, in its main office, Ms.
Estelle Kadouch, Human Rights Program Manager of the European Union
Representative Office in East Jerusalem. PCHR held two meetings with Ms.
Kadouch. The first meeting focused on the follow-up and discussion of the
project that PCHR implements and which is funded by the European Union and
Oxfam Novib, while the second meeting was extended and included representatives
of various human rights organizations in the Gaza Strip who discussed the human
rights situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT). During this
extended meeting, the participants reviewed the general situation and the
unprecedented deterioration taking place at the level of human rights,
especially crimes committed by the Israeli occupation against Palestinian civilians.
Also on Wednesday, 09 March 2011, PCHR received
Mr. Garry Walsh, Programme Officer in Israel and the OPT for Trocaire, an
Ireland-based charity and one of PCHR’s international partners. During the
meeting, the human rights situation in the OPT was reviewed. PCHR also
organized a field visit for Mr. Walsh, allowing him to witness the destruction
and war crimes committed by the Israeli occupation forces on the Gaza Strip
during the Israeli offensive between 27 December 2008 and 18 January 2009.
