On 21 June 2021, the General Assembly of the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR) held its annual meeting. The meeting was headed by Dr. Riyadh al-Za’noun, Chairman of the Board of Directors (BoD), and attended by BoD Members, PCHR’s Director, and the General Assembly Members. The meeting was held in the presence of consultant, Yacoub al-Ghandour, the Corporate Comptroller at the Ministry of National Economy, and his accompanying delegation.

At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Riyadh al- Za’noun welcomed the attendees and thanked Mr. Yacoub al-Ghandour and the accompanying delegation for their efforts and cooperation to hold this meeting.

The meeting agenda included the following:

• Presenting and ratifying PCHR’s 2020 administrative report presented by the BoD;
• Presenting and ratifying 2020 audit report;
• Choosing an audit company for 2021;
• Clearance of the BoD chairman and members;
• Resignation of the current BoD; and
• Choosing new BoD

Lawyer Raji Sourani, PCHR’s Director, reviewed the administrative report covering the period from 01 January to 31 December 2020.  Sourani highlighted the most significant achievements in the reporting period, the decision by the International Criminal Court’s (ICC) Prosecutor to open an investigation into the situation of Palestine; a decision that PCHR has tirelessly worked for in the last years.  Sourani stressed PCHR’s ability to work day and night despite the coronavirus circumstances and under the state of emergency, emphasizing PCHR’s work has not been negatively and by no means affected.

The General Assembly approved the administrative report presented by the BoD and the 2020 audit report presented by the audit company (Saba and Co.). Moreover, the General Assembly chose Ernst & Young as PCHR’s external audit company for 2021.

After clearance of the BoD chairman and members, they resigned from the General Assembly and a new BoD was elected and included Dr. Riyadh al-Za’noun, Mr. Jaber Wishah, Dr. Mukheimar Abu Se’dah, Mr. Hashem al-Thalathini, Ms. Nadia Abu Nahlah; Ms. Heba ‘Akkilah and Mr. Raji Sourani.

The elected BoD members held a meeting for position allocation as Dr. Riyadh al-Za’noun was elected as the BoD chairman while Dr. Mukheimar Abu Se’dah was elected as the deputy chairman.
