The Palestinian Centre for Human
Rights (PCHR) condemns the attack on Abdul Hamid al-‘Eila, PLC member for Fatah
movement, by unknown persons yesterday in southern Gaza city.
According to investigations
conducted by PCHR and statements given by PLC member Abdul Hamid al-‘Eila, at
approximately 21:00 on Saturday, 03 July 2010, three masked gunmen stopped Mr.
al-‘Eila while he was driving his grey Hyundai car in a bystreet leading from
Juhr al-Diq village to Salah Addin street. The gunmen surrounded the car and
told Mr. al-‘Eila to open the window because they wanted to talk to him. At
this time, one of the gunmen struck the back of the car with a heavy tool. Mr.
al-‘Eila immediately fled the area and drove to Gaza city. The police arrived
to meet Mr. al-‘Eila in a house belonging to one of his relatives to open an
investigation into the incident, take his statements and survey the damage to
the car.
PCHR condemns this attack by unknown
gunmen against Mr. al-‘Eila, PLC member for Fatah movement, and demands the
government in Gaza to bring the perpetrators to justice.
