In a mass celebration organized by the National Human Rights Council (CNDH) of Morocco in Rabat and attended by experts, lawyers, academics, and representatives of civil society and human rights organizations, Ms. Amina Bouayach, a distinctive human rights activist and Chairperson of CNDH, honored lawyer Raji Sourani for his theoretical and practical contributions in defending the Palestinian and Arab human rights, including the right to human dignity and justice, over the past 40 years.
During the ceremony, each of ‘Ammar Dweik, Director General of the Independent Commission for Human rights (ICHR) in Palestine, and Amjad al-Shawwa, Deputy Commissioner-General of ICHR, delivered impassioned speeches about Sourani’s human rights and legal career.
Sourani considered this honoring as a recognition of the human rights movement and organizations in Palestine, emphasizing his deep appreciation for the human rights and civil society movement and activists in Morocco. He also expressed pride and admiration for CNDH, emphasizing it is one of the human rights movement pioneers in the Arab World and has unwaveringly supported the Palestinian people’s struggle and legitimate rights historically and currently at the Arab, international and United Nations forums. He concluded that CNDH’s support is more necessary than ever due to the Israeli occupation’s commission of war crimes and crimes against humanity.
