Documentary about the International Criminal Law Moot Court project

In February 2011 the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights, together with UNDP and OHCHR, launched the first International Criminal Law Moot Court project in Gaza.

In this unique pilot project, thirtylaw students from three Gaza based universities (Al Azhar University, IslamicUniversity, and the University of Palestine) received expert training oninternational criminal law, including: the Rome Statute of the InternationalCriminal Court (ICC), case law, how to prepare written submissions, and how topresent oral submissions.

International legal experts from all over the world came to Gaza and provided legal training to the coaches and students of the three participating universities.

At the end of a 6 months training period, the students of the universities competed against each other in a mock ICC trial, each university being represented by a Prosecutor and Defense team.

The success of the project was highly praised locally and internationally. Therefore, the Moot Court project in Gaza will be continued in the years to come.
