Ten Palestinians, were killed and dozens more were injured, some reportedly seriously, in a series of Israeli attacks targeting vehicles, civilians, and displacement tents across the Gaza Strip between 22 and 24 September 2026. The attacks targeted Palestinians in several areas, including Deir al-Balah, Khan Younis, and Gaza City, while others were injured by gunfire from Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) stationed in the Yellow Zone east of Khan Younis and in northern and southern Rafah, as part of Israel’s ongoing genocidal campaign in the Gaza Strip, now in its third year.
The most significant attacks documented by Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR) field researchers are as follows:
At around 15:20 on Thursday, 24 September 2026, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a civilian vehicle near the al-Baydar area, southwest of Gaza City, injuring nine Palestinians. They were all transported to al-‘Awda Hospital in al-Nuseirat refugee camp and al-Shifa Medical Complex for treatment. The vehicle was carrying the body of Jaber Kamal Jaber Meqbel (35) who had been killed in an earlier Israeli drone strike at around 12:30 on the same day. The earlier strike targeted a vehicle in northwestern Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip, injuring eight Palestinians, who were taken to al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah.
At around 13:20 on the same day, an Israeli drone targeted a group of Palestinians near al-‘Abdasawi Supermarket in central Khan Younis, injuring five Palestinians who were transported to Nasser Medical Complex. One of the injured, Hasan Takrim Hafez al-Battah, 42, was reported to be in serious condition. Several hours later, doctors pronounced him dead succumbing to his injuries.
At around 14:20 on Wednesday, 23 September 2026, one-year-old Ibrahim Zanoun arrived at Nasser Medical Complex with a gunshot wound to his right thigh sustained in al-Mawasi after he was shot by IOF stationed in the Yellow Zone between northern Rafah and southern Khan Younis.
At around 13:50 on the same day, an Israeli drone fired two missiles at ‘Abdel Rahman ‘Emad Ahmed Temraz (28) while he was walking near al-Banna Bakery on ‘Akilah Street in Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip. He was killed instantly, and his dismembered body was transferred to al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah.
At around 13:25 on the same day, an Israeli drone fired a missile at Hasan Mahmoud Siam (42), while he was walking near Abu Khadrah land on the road connecting ‘Omar al-Mukhtar Street and al-Wehdah Street in Gaza City. As a result he was killed while two others were injured and several displacement tents sustained damage in the area.
At around 09:45, an Israeli drone targeted a white Skoda vehicle near Asdaa’ City, northwest of Khan Younis, setting it on fire and killing Mohammed Ibrahim Mohammed Abu ‘Elwan (47) and Osamah Khaled Mohammed Abu Khater (33) Several others were also injured in the attack and transported to Nasser Medical Complex.
At around 22:30 on Tuesday, 22 September 2026, IOF stationed in the Yellow Zone in eastern Khan Younis opened fire on displacement tents in northwestern Khan Younis. As a result, Yehia Jom’ah Marzouq Abu Sammour (24) sustained a gunshot wound to his back while sleeping inside his tent on al-Badou Street in the al-Satar al-Gharbi area of northwestern Khan Younis. He was transported to Nasser Medical Complex, where his condition was reported to be serious. At around 00:10 on Wednesday, 23 September 2026, doctors pronounced him dead from his injuries.
At around 17:15 on the same day, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a coffee shop near Muskat Elementary School for Girls in the al-Tuffah neighborhood of Gaza City. As a result, Ahmed Zaki Mahmoud Ziarah (43) and Mohammed Khader Mohammed Ghabayen (42) were killed, while three others, including a child, were injured. They were all transferred to al-Shifa Medical Complex and al-Ahli al-‘Arabi Baptist Hospital in Gaza City, where the injured sustained wounds ranging from moderate to serious. One of the injured, Adham Sobhi Salim Ziara, 33, later succumbed to his critical injuries and was pronounced dead.
Civilians in Gaza continue to face the risk of death and injury amid ongoing Israeli attacks targeting areas where residents and displaced people gather. These attacks include strikes on civilian vehicles and Palestinians while they are moving around, as well as gunfire targeting displacement tents, underscoring the population’s continued exposure to direct danger even in areas where they have sought refuge in search of safety.
PCHR calls upon the international community to fulfil its legal obligations to protect civilians in the Gaza Strip, take immediate and effective measures to halt Israeli attacks against civilians and civilian objects, and take tangible steps to ensure accountability for those responsible for these crimes and end the impunity enjoyed by perpetrators of war crimes, crimes against humanity, and genocide.
