On Wednesday, Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) continued committing killings and bombardment crimes across various areas of the Gaza Strip. As a result, 19 Palestinians were killed, including 8 children, 3 women, and a paramedic. This deadly toll reflects a clear determination to undermine the ceasefire agreement, which has lost any practical meaning on the ground amid ongoing aerial and ground bombardments, gunfire, and widespread demolitions.
These crimes are neither isolated incidents nor prompt reactions; rather, they are committed within a clear and consistent pattern of systematic violations. The IOF deliberately fabricate pretexts and incidents to justify killing and destruction, and to further pursue actions that target civilians and amount to the crime of genocide under international law. These acts are carried out in full reliance on the prevailing state of impunity and the practical silence of the international community, which emboldens the continued commission of crimes instead of putting an end to them.
Among the most significant incidents documented by PCHR’s field researchers are as follows:
At around 01:20 on Wednesday, 4 February 2026, the IOF bombed tents sheltering displaced people in southern Khan Younis, killing three Palestinians, including a father and his child. The victims were identified as Soliman Farid Soliman Abu Sitah (35), his son Farid (12), and Mahmoud Ayman al-Ras (21).
At around 01:40, IOF stationed in eastern Gaza City fired a barrage of artillery shells at several areas in al-Tofah neighborhood, eastern Gaza City, including Yafa and al-Sekkah streets, al-Shawwa Square, al-Aybaki neighborhood, and al-Hajar Street. One of the shells struck a residential apartment on the fourth floor of the Haboush family building, killing four Palestinians, including a boy and a girl, and injuring others with varying degrees of severity inside the apartment and in surrounding areas where shells landed. The victims were identified as Yousif Mohammed ‘Abdel Wahab Haboush (39), Ahmed Tal’at Mahmoud Haboush (22), Bilal Ashraf Mahmoud Haboush (17), and Rital Mahmoud Mohammed Haboush (12).
At around 06:00, Israeli artillery positioned in eastern Gaza City fired several shells at al-Zaytoun neighborhood. One of the shells landed near tents erected by displaced residents adjacent to their destroyed homes on Street 10 in the same neighborhood. As a result, three Palestinians were killed, including a married couple identified as ‘Ali Ahmed Khalil Selmi (55) and his wife, Buthainah Mohammed ‘Abdel Hameed Selmi/‘Ayyad (53), as well as Saqer Bader Mohie al-Deen al-Hatou (5 months old). Others sustained injuries of varying severity.
At around 10:45, IOF fired an artillery shell into al-Tofah neighborhood in northeastern Gaza City, which landed inside al-Mahata Park. As a result, Asmaa’ Hamadah (43) was killed, along with her daughter Farah ‘Amer Jaber Hamadah (19) and her four-day-old granddaughter Wateen al-Khabbaz while others sustained injuries of varying severity.
Around 10:50, Israeli warplanes targeted an empty tent in al-Mawasi, Khan Younis. Two young sisters, Rahaf and Rimas Rami Issam Abu Jamea, aged 10 and 11, were killed while inside a nearby tent. Several others sustained injuries of varying severity. Around 10 minutes later, while medical teams were on site to evacuate the victims, the Israeli warplanes struck the same location again, killing paramedic Hussain Hasan Hussain al-Sumairi (47), who worked with the Palestinian Red Crescent Society.
At around 15:00, an Israeli drone fired two missiles at a tent sheltering displaced people in Deir al-Balah, Central Governorate. The attack killed ‘Ali Fathi Mustafa al-Razainah (44) and his daughter Ghada (10) and injured six other civilians with varying degrees of severity.
At approximately 16:35, an Israeli drone targeted people gathered in al-Blakhiyah area, Shati’ Refugee Camp, northwest of Gaza City. The attack killed Mohammed Issam Hasan al-Habil (33) and injured several others with varying degrees of severity.
Moreover, IOF’s demolitions of the remaining houses continued, as the past hours witnessed repeated demolition operations in eastern Khan Younis and western Rafah
These acts constitute serious violations of international humanitarian law, in particular the principles of distinction and proportionality, and amount to war crimes and crimes against humanity. In their broader context, their repetition, and the targeting of protected groups, they also fall within the definition of genocide under the 1948 Convention on the Prevention and Punishment of the Crime of Genocide, through the deliberate killing and infliction of serious bodily harm to members of a national group with the intent to destroy it, in whole or in part.
PCHR calls on the international community to uphold its responsibilities and take immediate measures, including providing urgent protection for civilians, ending IOF’s military presence in the Gaza Strip, halting the use of methods and weapons targeting civilian neighborhoods, and compelling Israel to cease its attacks and the ongoing siege on the Strip.
