Ref: 85/ 2022Date: 01 July 2022Time: 12:00 GMT  Yesterday evening, 3 Palestinians, including 2 brothers, were killed, and another was seriously injured in a shooting at two vehicles in Hebron, south of the West Bank.  This incident is an indicative of flagrant assault on the rule of law in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt).According to investigations conducted by the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR), at approximately 13:40 on Thursday, 30 June 2022, a gunman opened fire via a machine gun at a White Subaru vehicle with an Israeli registration plate that stopped in central As-Samu village in Hebron.  There were two brothers in the vehicle identified as Ishaq and Saddam Mohammed Mousa Buhais and they were immediately killed after several bullets hit different parts of their bodies.  The two brothers were then taken via civilian cars to Abu al-Hasan al-Qasem Hospital in Yatta City.Around an hour later, a gunman opened fire at a Mazda vehicle with an Israeli registration plate near al-Wali area in As-Samu village. As a result, Ahmed Hussaib Ishaq Buhais was killed, and his brother Mohammed Hussain Ishaq Buhais was seriously injured. Both of them were taken to al-Ahli Hospital in Hebron. The three killed and the wounded man are all from al-Simia area in western As-Samu village. The Palestinian Police Spokesperson, Colonel Loay Izriqat, said that three Palestinians were killed, and others were wounded in a shooting in southern Hebron. He added that the police and Palestinian security services sent backups to the scene and opened an investigation into the incident.PCHR’s fieldworker in Hebron said that preliminary estimates indicate that the shooting was on grounds of a revenge, as two persons were previously killed, and several attempts of murder and shootings were reported between members of the same families during the past years. To date, family disputes and proliferation of weapons collected the lives of 25 people in 2022, including 11 persons in Hebron.PCHR expresses its concern over the continued incidents of weapon proliferation and denounces the use of firearms in family and personal disputes and the recurrence of shooting incidents on revenge grounds, a matter that poses a real threat to life and civil peace in Palestine.PCHR also demands serious steps towards ending the state of weapons proliferation, and to impose the rule of law, for the sake of civil peace, particularly in light of the recurrent murder crimes that recently collected the lives of many persons in the oPt.
