To Promote Coordination and Networking, Women’s Unit at PCHR Holds Meeting with Gaza Attorney General, Dr. Mohammed al-Nahhal

 Ref: 15/2022Date: 18 May 2022On Wednesday, 18 May 2022, the Women’s Unit at the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR) met with Dr. Mohammed al-Nahhal, Legal Advisor and Gaza Attorney General, at the Public Prosecution Headquarter in Gaza City.The meeting addressed women’s rights situation, including the latest developments relevant to women murders on grounds of so-called “family honor” and Gender Based Violence (GBV).  PCHR’s lawyers comprised of Ghada Al Nazli, Nadwa Badaro and Ahmed Al Bura’ie, stressed the importance of joint coordination between the Women’s Unit at PCHR and the Public Prosecution to find prompt solutions to women’s issues.The lawyers shed the light on the significance of protecting juvenile offenders’ rights in accordance with international conventions and domestic legislations that protect such category of children and according to standards relevant to improving their conditions and qualifying them to engage with society.                                                                                                                                     During the meeting, the Attorney General talked about speedy justice and endeavors of Public Prosecution with all its personnel and in cooperation with the judiciary to accomplish the unresolved issues in order to ensure the best application of human rights.Dr. Mohammed al-Nahhal praised PCHR’s efforts and significant role in defending and disseminating human rights and democracy culture in the Palestinian society.  Al-Nahhal emphasized the importance of coordination and networking between PCHR and the Prosecution in such causes as well as mutual work between the governmental and non-governmental sectors in resolving the unsettled and sensitive issues of women who are victims of violence..
