The Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR) condemns in the strongest terms the Israeli intense airstrikes across the Gaza Strip, which on 20 October 2025 killed 45 Palestinians, including 18 children, 8 women, and a journalist, and injured dozens of others. These renewed waves of airstrikes targeted civilian gatherings and temporary shelter sites without any military necessity or legitimate target, in a crime that constitutes a systematic resumption of Israel’s policy of mass killings and deliberate targeting of civilians.
These attacks underscore that the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) are pursuing a new policy aimed at maintaining a pattern of daily killings and bombardments, in complete disregard for any commitments or respect for the ceasefire declared on 10 October. Since then, artillery shelling and airstrikes have continued unabated, while the suffocating siege and the dire humanitarian situation persist, affecting more than two million displaced people across the Gaza Strip.
According to PCHR’s documentation, on the afternoon of Sunday, 19 October 2025, Israeli warplanes carried out a series of airstrikes—the most violent since the declaration of the ceasefire. The most prominent of these attacks were as follows:
At around 14:20, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a group of people gathered near Galaxy Coffee shop along the beach, northwest of Deir al-Balah. As a result, five Palestinians were killed, and ten others were injured. (PCHR maintains a record of the victims’ names.)
At around 15:30, an Israeli drone targeted a group of people gathered at al-Ahli Club in al-Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip. As a result, ‘Adel ‘Abdel ‘Aziz Isma’il Issa (50) and his son ‘Ezz al-Deen (20) were killed while five others were injured.
At around 16:20, an Israeli drone targeted the tents of displaced persons in the vicinity of Asdaa’ area, northwest of Khan Younis. As a result, six were killed, including two women and three children, while several others were wounded. Those killed were identified as Nesmah As’ad Ahmed al-Ghalban (28); ‘Ali Rami Khaled Abu Musalam (29) and his son Rami ‘Ali Rami Abu Musalam (4); ‘Ayshah Rashad al-Faq’awi (29); Mo’men Ibrahim Mustafa al-Moqayed (7); and Mohammed Shadi Mahdi Abu ‘Abeid (14). It should be noted that the targeted tent was located near a field kitchen, which sustained damage in the strike.
At around 16:45, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a chalet rented by PMP Media Company (Palestine Media Production Company), which provides media production and broadcasting services for local and international channels, near Abu Hmeid Square in al-Zawayadah, central Gaza Strip. The strike killed the company’s broadcasting engineer, journalist Ahmed As’ad Mohammed Abu Mutteir (34), and Bashar Mohammed Nabil al-Za’anin (17), the son of journalist Mohammed al-Za’anin, who works for the same company. Journalist Isma’il Jaber also sustained shrapnel wounds in his lower limbs.
The bombardment caused severe damage to the company’s broadcasting vehicle, a gray Volkswagen bus, as well as to a gray Hyundai Santa Fe belonging to the company.
At around 17:50, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a tent sheltering displaced persons in the yard of al-Nuseirat Preparatory School for Boys (D) – al-Sardi, run by UNRWA, in al-Nuseirat refugee camp. As a result, two siblings, Omar (6) and Dana (8) Abdullah Subhi al-Zaqzouq, were killed, and eight others were injured.
At around 18:00, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a tent in southwestern al-Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip. As a result, Mahmoud Sha’ban Yousif ‘Amer (17) and Islam Ahmed Khalil Tulbah (32) were killed, while five others were injured.
At around 18:05, Israeli warplanes attacked a house belonging to Abu Sweirih family in al-Sawarha area, southwest of al-Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip. As a result, ‘Adel Salem ‘Adel Abu Sweirih (40) and Nash’at Nabil Mohammed Abu Sweirih (41) were killed, while several residents of the area sustained various injuries due to the bombing.
At around 18:50, Israeli warplanes launched a violent airstrike targeting a house belonging to the Wishah family in al-Bureij refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip. As a result, eight Palestinians were killed, including five children and two women, while others sustained varying injuries. Several persons remained trapped under the rubble of the house at the time of documentation.
At around 19:00, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a tent sheltering displaced persons in Abu Salim area, west of al-Nuseirat refugee camp in the central Gaza Strip. As a result, six Palestinians were killed, including two children and two women.
These crimes constitute a serious escalation and form part of a consistent pattern of Israeli aggression and collective punishment against the population of the Gaza Strip. They amount to grave breaches of the four Geneva Conventions of 1949 and of international humanitarian law, which strictly prohibit targeting civilians and civilian objects. Moreover, the recurrent attacks on children, women, journalists, and shelters demonstrate a premeditated intent to inflict the maximum number of casualties and to spread fear among the civilian population.
PCHR warns that the international community’s continued silence towards these crimes and failure to hold Israel accountable grant it a green light to persist in its killing and destruction, paving the way for a new phase of systematic genocidal crimes against Palestinian civilians.
PCHR calls on the international community, the United Nations, and the Security Council to uphold their responsibilities and take immediate action, including providing urgent protection for civilians, ending the IOF’s military presence in the Gaza Strip, halting the use of tactics and weapons that target civilian neighborhoods, and compelling Israel to cease its attacks and siege of the Strip.
