In presence of Yaqoub Ghandour, the Corporate Comptroller at the Ministry of National Economy, the General Assembly of the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) held its annual meeting on 06 June 2017. The meeting was headed by Dr. Riyadh al-Za’noun, Chairman of the Board of Directors (BoD), and attended by BoD members; Raji Sourani, PCHR’s Director; and members of the General Assembly.
The General Assembly is comprised of Dr. Riyadh al-Za’noun, lawyer Raji Sourani, Ms. Nadya Abu Nahla, Mr. Hashem al-Thalathini, Mr. Essa Saba; lawyer Eyad al-Alami, Mr. Hamdi Shaqoura, Mr. Jaber Weshah, Ms. Mona al-Shawa, Ms. Ibtisam Zaqout, and Dr. Tareq Abdul Shafi.
The meeting started with extraordinary session during which the BoD members agreed on adding 3 new members to the General Assembly: Dr. Mukhaimar Abu Se’dah, Professor of Political Science at al-Azhar University; Ms. Heba Akkilah, a reporter; Mr. Hesham al-Sharif, an accountant and social activist. The number of General Assembly members has increased to 14.
The General Assembly dedicated its ordinary meeting to address and approve the 2015 and 2016 administrative reports; 2015 and 2016 auditor’s report; the updated organizational structure; the policies and financial procedure manual; the policies and purchase procedure manual; and the human resources manual. In the meeting as well, they selected an auditor for 2017, absolved the BoD members and Chairman and elected a new BoD.
The administrative report presented by the BoD, the auditor’s report presented by the audit company were approved by the General Assembly. Furthermore, the General Assembly agreed on Ernst and Young as the auditor for 2017. Following the absolving of the BoD, the Chairman and members presented their resignation. Elections for the membership of the new BoD were held, and following are the elected members:
The BoD then held a special session to entrust positions, during which Dr. Riyadh al-Za’noun was elected as the BoD Chairman and Jaber Wishah was elected as vice-chairman.
