On 12 March 2013, the Women’s Rights
Unit of the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR) participated in a
ceremony organized by Aman Centre of the Ministry of Social Affairs on the
International Women’s Day on the 08 of March.
The ceremony was held at the Aman Centre’s office in the presence of
representatives of women’s organizations and interested women.
The ceremony was opened with a
speech delivered by Hanadi Sukeik, Director of Aman Centre. She addressed the philosophy of opening the
centre, the nature of its work and services provided for women. She also stressed the importance of
cooperation between Aman and associations that are active in the field of
defending human rights, including PCHR.
Suheir Ajour, Representative of
World Food Program (WFP), talked about WFP’s work its role in supporting and
protecting women.
Majeda Shehadah, a researcher at PCHR
Women’s Rights Unit, reviewed the unit’s work, especially with regard to
providing legal aid and consultations for women.
‘Abeer Sho’asha’ah, a lawyer at Women’s Rights Unit, addressed Family Law and
the nature of the unit’s work and its efforts to achieve justice for women and
defend their rights. During the speech
of Sho’asha’ah, the audience raised questions and inquiries that enriched the
discussion.
