PCHR Publishes Annual Report 2007
PCHR has published its Annual Report for 2007, which covers the period from 1 January to 31 December 2007. This report is the 12th Annual Report published by PCHR since 1996.
PCHR’s 2007 Annual Report is divided into two sections. The first section provides a comprehensive picture of the human rights situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT) from 1 January to 31 December 2007. It details violations of international human rights and humanitarian law perpetrated by Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) in the OPT, and human rights violations perpetrated by the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) and obstacles to democratic reform under the PNA’s jurisdiction. This section is concluded with recommendations to the international community and the PNA.
The second section documents all PCHR’s activities from 1 January to 31 December 2007, including: PCHR units’ activities; participation in international conferences and meetings; meetings with visiting international delegations and figures; media interviews; and PCHR’s publications in 2007.
PCHR’s Annual Report provides a comprehensive picture of the human rights situation in the OPT, as it is the outcome of a year of work. PCHR considers the production of this report an obligation towards the society to ensure the transparency of its work, motivated by its legal status as a non-profit organization that provides services for free.
Note: Due to the tightened siege and the lack of printing papers, PCHR has not been able to print the report in the Gaza Strip. However, journalists can contact PCHR directly to obtain copies of the report on CD’s. Interested people can also read the report on PCHR’s web site: www.pchrgaza.org.
PCHR promises interested people that it will print and distribute the report once it is possible to print it in Gaza, to allow as many readers as possible to obtain it.
