PCHR Organizes a Training Course for UNRWA School Teachers in Gaza
On Sunday, 29 April 2007, PCHR Training Unit initiated a training course on human rights, with a special emphasis on the rights of the child. The course targets 23 teachers of UNRWA Gaza Elementary School “A”. The course, which will continue until 16 May 2007, is being at a lobby at school.
The training course covers a variety of human rights topics, including historical development of human rights; the International Bill of Human Rights (Universal Declaration of Human Rights; Covenant on Economic, social, and cultural rights; and Covenant on Civil and Political Rights); Convention on the Rights of the Child; and the right to education.
The training is conducted by a team of specialized trainers from PCHR that includes: Sameer Hasaniya and Muna al-Shawa, from the Women’s Rights Unit; Bassam al-Aqra, from the Training Unit; and Khalil Shahin, from the Economic, Social and Cultural Rights Unit.
This course is part of an annual training program agreed upon between PCHR and UNRWA in the context of constructive cooperation that started 5 years ago.
