PCHR Holds Meeting in Ramallah to Improve Health Services in the Gaza Strip

As part of the Palestinian Centre for
Human Rights’ (PCHR) ongoing efforts to improve health services offered to Gaza
Strip’s population, on Tuesday, 10 December 2013, Eyad Alami, Director of
PCHR’s Legal Unit held a meeting with Dr. Jawad ‘Awad, Minister of Health, in
the Ministry of Health’s headquarters in Ramallah.  Mohammed Bseiso, Lawyer at PCHR’s Legal Unit,
Samih Mohsin, PCHR’s field coordinator in the West Bank, and Dr. Subhi
al-Sawafiri, Director of the External Treatment Department in Gaza, attended
the meeting.

 

Alami and Bseiso also met in the
Presidential Compound in Ramallah with Abdullah al-Najjar, Assistant
Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for the Southern Governorates; Dr.
Midhat ‘Abdul Rahim Taha, the official in charge of health affairs; and Muneers
Salama, Assistant Director of the President’s Office. 

 

On Monday, 09 December 2013, Alami and
Bseiso met with representatives of Physicians for Human Rights in the
organization’s office in Jaffa.

 

The meetings addressed some issues related
to the health affairs of Palestinian patients in the Gaza Strip, especially the
crises of medicines and external medical transfers. 

 

Alami and Bseiso headed to the West Bank
on Monday, 09 December 2013, in a visit aimed for holding a number of meetings
concerning Legal Unit’s work programs at PCHR, including contribution to facing
the health crises resulting from the Palestinian split to ensure the right of
the Gaza Strip patients to enjoy the highest attainable standard of health.

 

It should be noted that PCHR has been
working for years on providing assistance Palestinian patients who suffer due
to the lack or medicines or the lack of their required treatment in the Gaza
Strip.  PCHR will continue its efforts in
this regard believing in its duty towards Gaza patients and hoping that PCHR
will be able to relieve themt.
