PCHR Concludes Training Course in the Field of Child Rights-Human Rights in Gaza City

On Thursday, 16 February 2017, the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) concluded a training course in the field of human rights for the team of child rights defenders. The 20-hour course was held in PCHR’s office in Gaza City from 13 to 16 February 2017 and was attended by 33 participants; 14 of whom were members of the team.

 

The training course program covered the following topics: introduction to human rights, International Bill of Human Rights (the International Declaration of Human Rights, the International Convent on Civil and Political Rights and the International Convent on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights), Convention on the Rights of the Child, basic concepts in international humanitarian law and the International Criminal Court.

At the end of the training course, PCHR organized a closing ceremony, during which Mr. Bassam al-Aqra’ emphasized, “the course is part of long-term efforts exerted by PCHR.” He added, “The relationship between PCHR, the participants in the course should not end at the end of the course, but it should start from here and deepen.” He stressed,” PCHR’s door will always be open to participants in order to benefit from PCHR’s experience.”

 

Mahmoud Mohamed, the team coordinator, confirmed PCHR’s role in the field of defending the Palestinian human rights and disseminating the human rights culture between youngsters. He also highlighted the importance of continuously holding similar courses with PCHR for its experience, accreditation and good reputation in the field of human rights.

In the same context, ‘Ola Abu ‘Abdo , a participant in the course, said, “the course was characterized with its rich topics and contributed to raising the participants’ awareness of human rights. She also praised the trainers’ efficiency and their various and interactive training procedures which were used in the course.

 

At the end of the course, all participants received certificates.
