The Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) killed eight Palestinians, including two children, and injured at least dozens more in a series of attacks targeting civilian vehicles and gatherings, shelters, and residential areas across the Gaza Strip over the past four days. Recurrent incidents of gunfire and artillery shelling were also reported in populated areas and against displaced Palestinians near the “Yellow Line.”
These attacks are part of the IOF’s ongoing killing and targeting of civilians and civilian objects across the Gaza Strip as part of their genocidal campaign, which is approaching its third year.
As documented by PCHR’s field researchers, at around 11:15 on Monday, 7 September 2026, an Israeli drone attacked a motorcycle near Asdaa’ Prison, northwest of Khan Younis. As a result, Isma’il Ibrahim Darwish Qandil (39) was killed and others were injured. All casualties were taken to Nasser Medical Complex for medical treatment.
At around 23:35 on Sunday, 6 September 2026, Israeli artillery stationed east of Deir al-Balah in the central Gaza Strip fired a missile that struck a classroom on the first floor of the northern building of Khawlah Bint al-Azwar High School for Girls, located at the beginning of the street connecting Salah al-Din Street and Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital. The school is being used as a shelter for dozens of displaced families, including women and children. The strike killed Sa’di ‘Abdullah Sa’di Ghalyah (3) and injured three members of his family. The shelter also sustained partial damage.
Na’el Yousif Hasan al-Kilani (47) told PCHR’s field researcher that he was in the classroom where he was staying with his family when he suddenly heard a deafening explosion that shook the school. When he went outside, he saw that a shell had struck the nearby classroom where the Ghalyah family of six was staying. After the dust had cleared, he entered the classroom and saw Sa’di injured in the abdomen, while three other members of his family had also been wounded. All the casualties were transported to Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital, where the child was pronounced dead.
At around 23:45 on the same day, medical sources at Al-Shifa Medical Complex in Gaza City announced the death of Hasan ‘Ali Hasan Saqallah (19), who had succumbed to a bullet wound to the head sustained earlier that afternoon while he was walking near his house in the vicinity of Al-Ma’mouniyah Preparatory School for Girls, near Palestine Mosque in the al-Rimal neighborhood of Gaza City.
According to available information, the gunfire most likely came from the direction of the Israeli cranes deployed within the so-called “Yellow Line” in eastern Gaza City, as the area where the young man was present was directly exposed to these cranes. The eastern areas of Gaza City, Jabalia, Beit Lahia, and northern Beit Lahia, as well as the refugee camps of al-Bureij and al-Maghazi and Deir al-Balah, have witnessed recurrent incidents of gunfire west of the Yellow Line. Since the beginning of September, these incidents have resulted in 15 Palestinians sustaining injuries of varying degrees.
At around 23:05 on the same day, an Israeli drone fired a missile at people gathered in the vicinity of the American School, located between the Communications Intersection and the Palestine University building, west of Gaza City. The attack killed Mohammad Atef ‘Arafat Sukkar (28) and injured two other people.
At around 17:15 on the same day, an Israeli drone fired at least one missile at a civilian vehicle traveling near the entrance to al-Majadlah Street, off ‘Ezz al-Deen al-Qassam Street, west of Gaza City. The strike killed the vehicle’s driver, Yousef Nabil Rabah ‘Akilah (36), and his five-year-old daughter, Wafaa’, and injured six others, most of them children. The injured were taken to Al-Shifa Medical Complex, where their injuries were described as moderate to minor.
At around 20:45 on Saturday, 5 September 2026, Israeli warplanes launched four missiles at al-Sakhrah Commercial Complex in the al-Tuffah neighborhood of Gaza City, completely destroying the complex and injuring 12 people. The injured were taken to the Arab Baptist Hospital and Al-Shifa Medical Complex for medical treatment.
At around 13:35 on Sunday, 6 September 2026, an Israeli drone fired a missile at people gathered in the vicinity of Abu ‘Asi School in al-Shati’ Refugee Camp, west of Gaza City. The strike injured seven people, including two children, one of whom sustained serious injuries. Among the injured was journalist ‘Ali Munir Ali Jahjouh (33), who sustained a shrapnel wound to his right foot.
From the early hours of Tuesday, 1 September 2026, until the evenong of Saturday, 5 September 2026, around 22 Palestinians were injured and transported to field hospitals, Nasser Medical Complex, and al-Amal Hospital, run by the Palestine Red Crescent Society, due to shooting by IOF stationed in the areas of the “Yellow Line” east, south, and southwest of Khan Younis. The areas of the Qatari Hamad Displacement Camp east of Hamad, the cemeteries and al-Maslakh area south of al-Namsawi, the Lemon Land and al-Iqlimi areas southwest of Mawasi Khan Younis, and Abu Hamid Intersection were subjected to recurrent gunfire, leaving displaced people there feeling unsafe in their tents.
Information documented by PCHR indicates that the gunfire repeatedly targets houses and displacement tents adjacent to areas under IOF control and, in some cases, extends as far as four kilometers or more west and north of those areas.
At around 19:25 on Thursday, 3 September 2026, civilians managed to recover the body of Ahmed Maher Ahmed al-Nuweiri (27), hours after he had been targeted by a missile fired by an Israeli drone earlier that morning. The attack took place opposite Abu ‘Odah Olive Press on Salah al-Deen Street, northeast of al-Nuseirat Refugee Camp in the central Gaza Strip.
At around 17:30 on Thursday, 3 September 2026, an Israeli drone fired two missiles at people gathered in the middle of al-Thawrah Street in Gaza City. As a result, Ahmed Fo’ad Khalil Helles (34) was killed and three others were injured. All casualties were taken to Al-Shifa Medical Complex for medical treatment.
PCHR emphasizes that the IOF’s ongoing targeting of Palestinian civilians, including children and displaced persons, as well as attacks on shelters, civilian gatherings, and vehicles, coupled with repeated incidents of gunfire reportedly targeting residential areas, reflect a continuing pattern of using lethal force without justification and pursuing a policy of intimidation aimed at depriving Palestinians of any sense of safety.
PCHR calls upon the international community to take immediate and effective action to stop Israeli crimes against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, ensure the protection of civilians and civilian objects, and halt killings, attacks, destruction, and forced displacement. PCHR further calls for tangible measures to ensure accountability for those responsible for these crimes and to end the impunity enjoyed by perpetrator of war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide.
