On World Press Freedom Day on 03 May 2016, the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) launches on Monday and Thursday, 02 and 03 May 2016, a blogging campaign titled “No to Silencing the Press.” A group of bloggers from inside the Gaza Strip and abroad will publish posts and tweets on Facebook and Twitter in English and Arabic. The bloggers will highlight the most prominent topics addressed in PCHR’ periodic reports that are supposed to be issued on this occasion:

  1. Silencing the Press report, which is the 18th of its kind. The report covering the period from 01 April 2015 to 31 March 2016 addresses the Israeli violations against journalists working in the occupied Palestinian territories (oPt); and
  1. A report on the Violations of the Right to Freedom of Opinion and Expression in the PA, which is the 14th of its kind. The report covering the period from 01 April 2015 to 01 April 2016 tackles the most prominent violations against journalists and opinion makers in the PA.

This campaign is to shed light on the Israeli crimes against journalists that aim at silencing the press and hiding the truth as well as the PA violations against Palestinian journalists, opinion makers and bloggers in the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Furthermore, the campaign will display the most significant recommendations concluded by the two reports.

PCHR organizes this campaign in cooperation with the Social Media Café of al-Ameen Media Network. The two hashtags #إخراس الصحافة and #SilencePress will be published on Facebook and Twitter.
