The Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) and the United Nations Offices of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR) in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT) have continued their preparation to organize “Creative Media Professionals” ceremony on the World Press Freedom Day on 03 May. The ceremony aims at honoring Palestinian journalists and media professionals working for local and international media institutions, whose works were granted awards in 2009 and 2010 and who contributed to the exposition of human rights violations in the OPT. 

Since the beginning of March 2010, PCHR and OHCHR have contacted journalists and media professionals to find out those who won international awards and meet with them. The winning journalists and medial professionals have provided the two organizations with their creative works that won international awards.  Such works were relevant to their coverage of Israel’s offensive on the Gaza Strip in the beginning of 2009, through which they demonstrated the human suffering of Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip under the offensive.
