Condemnation of Extrajudicial Execution in Jenin
The Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR) has condemned the extrajudicial execution carried out by the Israeli Occupation Forces (IOF) in Jenin, which resulted in the deaths of three Palestinians, including a child.

- Date & Time: 06 August 2023, around 17:15.
- Location: Road connecting Bir al-Basha village with Arraba village, near ‘Arraba Intersection in Jenin, West Bank.
- Event: Israeli Special Military Forces, in vehicles with Palestinian registration plates, intercepted a grey Peugeot vehicle. The forces heavily fired upon the vehicle from behind, forcing it to stop. After closing the road and firing teargas, IOF towed the vehicle away with the deceased inside.

- Nayef Jihad Nayef Abu Sweiss (27), Jenin refugee camp.
- Khaleel Nizar Nemer Abu Na’asah (21), Jenin refugee camp.
- Baraa Ahmad Al-Qerem (16), Jalkamous village.
- IOF’s Statement:
- Israeli forces claimed the vehicle was associated with a “terrorist cell” planning an attack. They asserted that Nayef Abu Sweiss, identified as the head of the cell, and two others were killed during the operation.
- PCHR’s Response:
- Condemnation: PCHR condemns the extrajudicial killings, emphasizing that these acts are carried out without due process and often result in the deaths of non-targeted civilians.
- Historical Context: Over the past two decades, at least 1,000 Palestinians have been killed in similar extrajudicial operations by IOF, with a significant percentage being non-targeted civilians, including children.
- International Response: PCHR criticizes the international community’s inaction and calls for immediate measures to address these violations. They urge the Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) to take serious action and demand that High Contracting Parties to the Fourth Geneva Convention fulfill their obligations to ensure respect for the Convention and hold accountable those responsible for grave breaches.
